NEWS: This Scenic Drive Shows You the Best Parts of Yellowstone, Minus the Crowds
It had been almost 30 years since I last saw Yellowstone National Park as a child, traveling with my family Griswold-style for a summer vacation in the early ‘90s. Revisiting now, I was excited to see what I would remember—aside from the massive herds of bison and bubbling geysers with the smell of rotten eggs that burned my eyes. Like many Yellowstone visitors, I didn’t have a ton of time to spend in the park and was hoping to maximize my visit as best as I could.
It turns out that there’s a day-long, 250-mile drive that showcases the best parts of the park, minus the crowds. On the park’s Upper Loop Tour, I drove over 250 miles in an 11-hour day. The drive was part of a wildlife and nature tour with Colter Jones’ CoveredGround Tours to see as much of Yellowstone National Park as possible, with hopes of maximizing our chances of spotting wildlife.
